In today’s Autumn statement, Chancellor Phillip Hammond has announced that a major change will be implemented in the lettings sector in the near future. A ban on letting fees, which will come into place after consultation, means that Tenants will no longer have to pay any fees associated with the setting up of a tenancy. This news has come as an additional attack at the lettings market following the introduction of an extra 3 per cent stamp duty levy and a cut in tax breaks, announced in the previous budget. As a proactive local independent agent, we have now taken the decision to react immediately and become a “fee-free” agency for any Tenant applications received after midnight on 23rd November 2016. As a responsible Lettings Agency, we pride ourselves in providing a first class service for both Landlord and Tenant. Rest assured the implementation of this latest change will not impact on your Landlord fees in the immediate future.
